To be compliant with the covid19 pandemic new normal and its many challenges, PCHS has worked to bridge gaps in its distance learning modalities. In 2020-21, the school has succeeded in its 180-degree shift in academic preparation by making significant interventions and gaining the trust and confidence of parents and stakeholders. It has employed the use of guidance intervention and formation teams (GIFT), EdukTokhang initiative through house to house delivery of instructions and mobile library outreach with science and Filipino language books.
PCHS has transformed its mobile library into a mobile school and used it to visit villages in Pangantucan. Equipped with SMART Communications School-in-a Bag which contains tablets (with Dynamic Learning Program packets), a laptop and portable wi-fi, this has enabled the teachers to deliver supplemental lessons to students more efficiently. Because the tablets also include materials for grade schoolers, the PCHS teams have been able to attract grade 6 students and provide them with reading comprehension skills training - making PCHS their choice for high school!
Last January, PCHS has acquired a campus radio station to supplement its modular learning approach this year. Magis Radio 107.3 FM has been enthusiastically welcome by parents and students in the community. Students have stepped up to do disc jockey, news broadcast, and voice over responsibilities - levelling up the standard of student journalism in school. The school has also accommodated the local public high school with a 2-hour Mon-Fri slot to enable them to reach their own students as well. The parish has also agreed to broadcast its 730 AM Sunday Mass through the school radio.
This school year the PCHS team has worked to strengthenin its Dynamic Learning Program and completion of deliverables. Despite the pandemic, the development and implementation of its agriculture curriculum have been completed. This included the recruitment of licensed agriculturists and agriculture engineers. To strengthen its overall instructional capabilities in its academic strands, new professional teachers have been hired. The school has made upgrades in its science and computer labs and received a donation of 10 laptop computers, supplementing its purchase of a desktop computer with approved DOST specs.
The Ignatian worldview, which is rooted in the life and works of St. Ignatius of Loyola, can be seen in the almost 500-year old tradition of Jesuit education. PCHS like all Jesuit schools strives to teach and educate young women and men to be for and with others; to share gifts, pursue justice, and to have concern for the poor and marginalized. We want to instill among the youth "Cura Personalis" or care for the individual person, to respect each person as a child of God and all of God's creations, and to develop our students as whole persons, in heart, mind and soul, integrating all aspects of their lives, for the greater glory of God,
The Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) is an innovative teaching method that focuses on students’ involvement in the learning process through writing, in-school comprehensive student portfolio, parallel learning groups, and activity-based learning. A key component of DLP is Strategic Rest and Sports which includes No Homework Policy and a designated day for sports, music and the arts in the middle of the week. It encourages creativity and versatility among students. It also allows students to have more quality time with their families and pursue interests other than academics. DLP leads to academic performance improvements.
Our philosophy of education is grounded in the reality and context of contemporary Philippines and its demands in the future. We offer academic strands that give the students specialized subjects that will prepare them for their degree program of choice - ABM (Accountancy, Business, and Management), HUMSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Aligned with the vision of PCHS to become a leading agricultural high school, under the TVL strand (Technology, Vocational and Livelihood), PCHS offers Agri-Fishery Arts with specialization in Horticulture. The student can gain hands-on experience and learn actual technical skills in crop production at our farmstead adjacent to the school grounds.
The province of Bukidnon is blessed with rich soil and a conducive climate for agriculture. PCHS is committed to promote sustainable agriculture among its youth as a means towards alleviating poverty through agriculture-inclined education. The school has recently entered into an agreement with the Central Mindanao University School of Agriculture (a CHED Center of Excellence) in the development of its agricultural program, a three-year plan. We aim to become a premier agricultural high school that produces graduates who are academically competent and conscientious, connected to the land and its resources, Christ-centered and culturally sensitive. The school has developed a 22 hectare farm that is currently planted to adlay grain, corn and coffee.
This video production has been proudly completed as a technology performance task by our Grade 10 students using material obtained with permission from Mr. Kyle Valle Resane, PCHS alumnus.
