Our Faculty

Profile of PCHS Faculty

The ideal PCHS Teacher is called to be a contemplative in action – one who is invited to share St. Ignatius’ world vision of finding God in all things and in each human being. Conscious of his/her limitations yet grateful for God’s gifts, s/he takes an active part in making a difference in the lives of others. His or her optimism is rooted in a deep love for God.  This optimism is translated into generous service to the students: forming them, drawing out from them the best that they can possibly be, making them realize that despite their own limitations, they too are called to contribute to the on-going creation of the world because they too are loved by our great God.

The ideal PCHS teacher is aware that the task of forming the students is a collaborative work with his/her co-teachers, parents, and administrators and that teamwork is needed for success. Even as he/she strives to be a role model for the students, s/he is aware that s/he, too, is still in the process of forming him/herself fully along these core values:

  • Christ-centeredness – striving to deepen one’s personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ in order to follow his example as the Great Teacher;
  • Competence – exhibiting mastery of the content and skills of the subject area as well as the ability to effectively engage and challenge the students in learning;
  • Conscientiousness – desiring to do what is right and to carry out his/her duties with excellence as expressions of his/her experience of being loved by God and manifestation of his/her deepening relationship with Jesus Christ, the Great Teacher
  • Community – recognizing that one does not live for him/herself; rather s/he needs others to actualize his/her person and s/he lives for others, thus, he/she strives to strengthen ties with the members of the community, to celebrate each one’s uniqueness, and to aspire for unity and synergy amid diversity
  • Caring of Creation – respecting, valuing, and nurturing God’s creation as God’s responsible stewards by caring for the environment and utilizing resources wisely, judiciously, and economically

.

The ideal PCHS teacher has a deep devotion to Our Blessed Mother Mary as the perfect model of someone who completely trusts God’s providence and grace. With her intercession and learning from her ways of caring for Jesus, our Great Teacher, the ideal PCHS teacher believes that all things are possible in this challenging vocation of forming the students.
